Sell a diagnostic product to North American business owners.
Outbound B2B Sales Consultant · Remote (South Africa) · Independent Contractor
100% commission, uncapped, working from home. Your first three sales pay you the entire fee. We provide the list, the phone number, the CRM and the training. You bring the phone grit.
Important: read this first
This is a 100% commission-only role built for a self-motivated outbound hunter. You will be making 60+ cold calls a day to CEOs, founders and business owners across North America.
If you need a base salary to feel secure, or you dislike cold calling, please do not apply. If you have executive presence, enjoy closing high-value B2B deals, and want to earn on your own terms, read on.
What you would sell
Expansive EDGE is a Canadian operations consultancy. We work with trades and field-service businesses across North America: the plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing and telecom contractors running between 10 and 200 staff. We fix the thing that quietly caps every one of them, which is that the business only works when the owner is in it.
You would sell the ControlShift™ Insights Assessment. The owner completes a structured online assessment, our system produces a diagnostic report on how dependent the business is on them personally and where the operational gaps sit, and they get a 60-minute review call with our founder. It costs $997 CAD, and it is credited back in full if they go on to a full engagement.

Calling business owners in North America, on the phone, cold, and starting a conversation that ends in them buying an assessment.
That is the job, and there is no gentler way to describe it. You will spend most of your working day talking to people who did not expect your call. Some days go well and some do not.
What makes it sellable is that you are not pitching consulting. You open by offering something free and genuinely useful: a five-minute Owner Dependency Score that tells an owner how much of the business runs on them personally. Most of them score badly. The conversation about why is the conversation that sells the assessment.
A typical week
- 300+ outbound calls from a list we build and hand you
- 20 to 25 real conversations with owners
- Six to eight agreeing to take the free score
- Two or three assessments sold
Hours
The work only functions if you are on the phone while North American businesses are open, which in practice means afternoons and into the evening, South African time. You set your own schedule around that constraint, but there is no version of this role that works on a 9-to-5 South African day.
Uncapped, and it climbs inside every cycle
Commission only. No basic salary, no benefits, no medical aid, no leave pay. You invoice us monthly and you are responsible for your own tax. This is an independent contractor engagement, not employment. The initial term is 90 days, renewable in writing if it is working for both of us.
Earnings are paid in Canadian Dollars via Wise, directly to your local bank account. Rand figures below are estimates at roughly R11,500 per $1,000 CAD and will move with the market.
Ramp-up, one time only
100% commission on your first 3 sales
$997 CAD (~R11,500) per sale. We keep nothing on those three. It is deliberate: those sales are how you learn the product, and what you tell us about what worked is worth more to us right now than the revenue. It does not reset and it does not repeat.
After the ramp, the tiers reset at the start of every commission cycle. A cycle runs from the 21st of one month to the 20th of the next, and your count returns to zero each cycle:
| Tier | Sales in the cycle | Rate | Per sale |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 · Base Quota | 1 to 8 | 50% | $500 CAD (~R5,750) |
| Tier 2 · Performance Accelerator | 9 to 14 | 60% | $600 CAD (~R6,900) |
| Tier 3 · Elite Producer | 15 and above | 70% | $700 CAD (~R8,050) |
Every sale pays at the rate for its own position, not one blended rate. Twenty sales in a cycle pays 8 x $500, then 6 x $600, then 6 x $700, which is $11,800 CAD (~R135,700).
Commission is calculated after the cycle closes on the 20th and paid once the client's seven-day money-back window has passed, on or about the 28th. Depending on where in the cycle a sale lands, expect between roughly eight and thirty-eight days between making it and being paid for it.
After 90 days, consultants whose agreement is renewed also become eligible for commission on the larger engagements their clients go on to buy, and on recurring subscription revenue from their accounts. Those engagements run between $15,000 and $30,000 CAD. It is written into the contract with a date on it, not promised vaguely.
- A built prospect list, 400 to 500 contacts every week. You do not source your own leads, scrape, or buy data.
- A local North American phone number and a dialler, so your calls come up as local rather than international.
- A CRM seat to log every call and manage your pipeline.
- An Expansive EDGE email address and access to our internal operations hub.
- Training and scripts: onboarding before your first call (unpaid, like the rest of the role), call scripts and objection handling, a live demo environment, and the sample report.
- A weekly one-to-one and a weekly group call review where we listen to real recordings together and work out what is landing.
- Clear, professional English. Clear, warm, easily understood spoken English with executive-level presence and zero call-centre script reading. You will be speaking to North American contractors who will hang up on anyone they have to concentrate to follow.
- Phone grit and resilience. Proven experience making high-volume B2B cold calls to senior executives.
- Business acumen. Ability to speak comfortably about business strategy, revenue and operations with business owners.
- Your own setup. A quiet home office, high-speed fibre internet, a personal computer, a professional noise-cancelling headset, and a backup plan for load shedding.
It counts for a lot if you have
Sold to or worked in a trades business: equipment finance, fleet, commercial insurance, job management software, anything that put you inside a contractor's world. Being able to say "I have seen the whiteboard schedule on the wall" is worth more here than any sales certificate. Insurance and financial services sales also transfers unusually well.
Please do not apply if
- You have only ever worked on a basic salary and want to try commission. This is a bad first commission role, because there is no floor under you.
- You need a manager to structure your day. You will be working alone, from home, at hours when most people you know have finished work.
- You are looking for something part-time alongside another job. The maths does not work and you will earn very little.
Two things, by email. That is the whole process.
We do not review applications without an audition recording. Send both of the following to careers@expansiveedge.com with the subject line SA Sales Rep Application · [Your Name].
Step 1
Your CV or resume
Attached as a PDF.
Step 2
A two to three minute video
Recorded on your phone or laptop, in a single unedited take, covering:
- Briefly introduce yourself: your experience and background
- Why you are a good fit for this role
- Pitch why a business owner should take 15 minutes to review their company's exit strategy
Video is preferred because we want to see how you hold a conversation, but audio is accepted. One take, no editing, no music, no script read off the screen. Link it (YouTube unlisted, Google Drive, Loom, Dropbox) or attach it if it is small enough, and check the link actually opens before you send it.
Say the word "whiteboard" somewhere in the first thirty seconds.
That is how we know you read this to the end.
We are not judging your appearance, your accent, or your production values. We are listening to how clearly you explain something to a stranger, because that is the entire job.
We reply to every application that includes a video, within five business days. Applications without an audition recording sent to careers@expansiveedge.com are automatically declined.
Not the right role for you, but you know someone it suits? Please send it on. You can also see all open roles, or read up on Codified Operational Intelligence™ before you apply.
